Why do you need flux for submerged arc welding
First, submerged arc welding is arc welding.The characteristic of arc welding is the melting of metal. If the metal is not isolated from the air during the melting process, there will be excess oxides in the welding seam, the reduction of alloy elements, and the existence of nitride.In order to reduce the harmful effects of oxygen and nitrogen, the molten metal must be isolated from the air during welding.Submerged arc welding USES gas and slag generated by flux to separate liquid metal from air.

Functions of flux:

1) improve the electrical conductivity of arc, make arc easy and stable;

2) form slag, protect the transient droplet, protect the formed molten pool, cover the surface of the welding path, and avoid too fast cooling of welding seam;

3) it has metallurgical influence on the dissolution pool, and reacts with ferromanganese and ferrosilicon to deoxidize between metal and slag;

4) alloy mixing, adding Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, Mo and other elements.
